In Sevastopol, a district police officer detained a man suspected of threatening to kill his wife. As noted in the city Ministry of Internal Affairs, a family quarrel on financial grounds almost ended in tragedy.
A 37-year-old local builder independently handed over a salary card to his 32-year-old wife, and when he once again demanded money from her for his own entertainment and was refused, a conflict arose between the couple. During an argument, the man grabbed a kitchen knife and threatened his wife with murder. Fearing for her safety, the woman contacted the police. The district police officer of the Severnoye police station arrived at the address indicated by the applicant and detained the suspect. The alleged weapon of the crime, a knife, was seized from the scene— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
A criminal case was initiated against the detainee under Part 1 of Art. 119 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Threat to kill or cause grievous bodily harm”). An unrestrained spouse faces up to two years in prison.
