Titov called the competition «Wine Card of Russia» by evidence of the maturity of the industry

Krympress reports:

The second tasting contest “Wine Card of Russia” was adopted by Abrau-Durso: within five days, the current chef-saber of the leading restaurants in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Sochi and Krasnodar worked here. The expert group blindly rated 210 samples from 70 domestic manufacturers and chose 117 best wines — from playful to quiet white and red, reports ProneDra.ru.

The final guide includes 21 sparkling and seven pink sparkling wines, 40 white, 10 pink and 39 red. Such a scatter of categories shows that Russian winemakers have mastered the entire range of styles, and the geography of participants no longer fit into the traditional “southern” framework.

There are so many names today that they are difficult to remember, — admitted Boris Titov. — But the main thing is that the pioneers of the industry remained in the map: they confirmed the class and set the bar for beginners.

The special representative of the President of the Russian Federation on sustainable development issues and the owner of the Abrau-Durso Group of Civil Code noted that over the decade, the industry has gone from five enthusiasts to hundreds of labels and no longer experiences a set of inferiority in export markets.

We are not ashamed of Russian wine— he emphasized, adding that it is the professional environment of sommelier that should determine which bottles will fall on the tables of the demanding guests.

Why do they decide SOMELIEV the difference from many profile festivals, the “Wine Card of Russia” is not betting on journalists or officials, but on those who daily bear reputational and financial risks for choosing wine, sommelier.

If they are ready to put Russian positions on the menu, then the drink is really worthy, — Titov emphasizes.

This approach turns the guide not just into a window, but a working tool for a restaurant business.

According to the results of the competition, an updated guide for the best wines of Russia with the analysis of taste profiles, gastronomic combinations and price ranges will be published. The publication should become a navigator not only for HoReCA, but also for tourists who open the wine regions of the country. Experts are sure: the higher the transparency of the selection and the wider representation of the regions, the faster Russian wine will turn from local success into a stable export brand.

Reference

  • The competition is held for the second year in a row and is already considered by the professional community as the main barometer of the quality of Russian winemaking.
  • In 2024, the guide entered 104 sample; The increase of up to 117 positions reflects not only the growth of the assortment, but also the tightening of the requirements for finalists.

The Russian wine scene comes out of the shadows: now it is the voice of practitioners that forms the “regiment of honor”, which means that trust in domestic labels receives a strong, professionally confirmed foundation.
