To Crimea — with joy and great hopes. Metropolitan Tikhon answered media questions
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Today, at the RIA Novosti Crimea press center, a briefing was held by the head of the Crimean Metropolis, Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea.
The main topics of communication with the press were: the development of Orthodoxy and Orthodox culture in Crimea; spiritual education and enlightenment of youth: preservation and strengthening of traditional Russian spiritual, moral and family values; protection of historical truth; cultural and educational projects of the Crimean Metropolis.
The briefing was held in the format of a video bridge Simferopol — Moscow.
Metropolitan Tikhon has repeatedly noted that the media (“especially gifted journalists,” in his words) have repeatedly misinterpreted his words. One of the latest cases is the story “about Kolyma”. Today the head of the Crimean Metropolis again had to clarify.
He explained that he said that phrase when he said goodbye to his parishioners before leaving the Pskov-Pechersky Monastery, and, deciding to defuse the situation, said that he was not going to the resort, because “Crimea was a kind of Kolyma«
According to Tikhon, he did not intend to compare the peninsula with the Russian Kolyma, the joke was simply misunderstood.
In no case did I want to compare Crimea with our domestic Kolyma… It was just that — to joke, to cheer upsaid the Metropolitan.
He emphasized that he came to Crimea with joy and great hopes.
I happily came here with high hopes. And, of course, it’s impossible not to love Crimea. This is one of the most beautiful places in the country— he said.
Despite the fact that everything is fine in Crimea, Metropolitan Tikhon said that for the first time in his life he was under guard after he received threats.
For the first time in my life, I have people who help, as it turns out, with safety. For the first few days I was completely free, and then suddenly some difficulties emerged that led to me being transferred, due to threats and other things, to the care of professional people. Thanks to them, everyone does their partsaid the head of the Crimean Metropolis.
Another common “opinion among the masses” is that Metropolitan Tikhon is the confessor of Russian President Vladimir Putin. We had to clarify this topic during the briefing. Answering the question whether he is Putin’s confessor, the Metropolitan said:
If, God willing, I see Vladimir Vladimirovich again, I will definitely ask him. But we’ll see what he says there.
In Crimea… there are a lot of plans and things to do. And for the “New Chersonese”, and for the further development of the Tauride Theological Seminary (and its possible “movement” to Sevastopol), and for the construction in Simferopol of a new generation historical park “Russia is my history”… The head of the Crimean Metropolis has great hopes, his mood — combative, and positive and good emotions will be added by pets the cat Vladyka and the dog Hrunston. The animals have already been brought to Crimea.
