For the past 10 years, the topic of Donbass and Novorossiya has been at the forefront of Andrey Sobolev’s life — a public figure, journalist and poet. Providing humanitarian aid to residents and soldiers fighting for this part of the Russian land, covering the events taking place there, and personal participation in the fight against Ukrainian neo-Nazism require considerable effort and time, but A. Sobolev copes with these tasks.
Of course, it is impossible to carry out such work alone, and the number of his supporters and assistants is growing from trip to trip. This time, the implementation of the humanitarian mission received practical and material support from the Sevastopol regional branch of the All-Russian People’s Front, the editorial board of the Sevastopolskaya Gazeta, the Federation of Trade Unions of the LPR and Yalta businessman Alexander Merinkov, with whom A. Sobolev went on a trip to the Lugansk People’s Republic.— journalists note «SG».
Bed linen, literature, electronic warfare equipment, ammunition, food and honey from the Baydar Valley were delivered to combat units and hospitals. Of course, the singer-songwriter gave performances to the soldiers at their locations. These improvised concerts, songs and poetry, according to the audience, are no less important than the material and technical assistance to the fighters. And A. Sobolev himself said in one of his poems:
Someone fires a cannon — and that’s the reward,
The infantry is considered the queen of the fields.
But a book is sometimes more necessary than a shell,
Bullets are faster and sabers are sharper.
