To the implementation of the psychophysiological project — scientists KFU won the grant of the Russian Scientific Fund

Employees of the Department of Physiology of Human and Animals and Biophysics of the Institute of Biochemical Technologies, Ecology and Pharmacy of the Crimean Federal University became the winners of the 2025 competition “Conducting research by scientific groups under the guidance of young scientists” of the presidential research program implemented by leading scientists, including young scientists, a priority area of activity of the Russian Scientific Fund “Support for young people scientists «. The Russian Scientific Fund supported the project on the topic “Neuro- and psychophysiological mechanisms underlying the relationship of speech functions and prosocial behavior in children.” The grant is designed for three years.

By studying neuro- and psychophysiological mechanisms, they mean a set of physiological (neural) processes that ensure the formation of a certain mental function and behavior. This scientific work is aimed at studying the so -called «mirror» brain system (ZSM). It is believed that this system is responsible for training by imitation, speech and emotional development, as well as for socialization. Our previous projects reflect the connection of the severity of helping behavior with the activity of the ZSM. In addition, it was revealed that the better in children the speech is developed, the more often and faster they help. This project is a continuation of research data, — said the project manager Anna Mikhailova.

The developed project is designed to work with typically developing children aged 2 to 10 years and with children from 4 years of age, which have violations in speech development and an autistic spectrum disorder (RAS), the activation pattern of which, according to the researcher, is significantly different from the standard one.

A significant aspect of the study is its practical applicability and interdisciplinary orientation.

This work is aimed at conducting scientific research at the junction of psychology and neurophysiology and has both scientific and social significance. Particularly important for the formation of personality and prosociality is the period of early childhood, preschool and school age. In these periods, communication skills, motivational spheres are formed, certain patterns of behavior, attitude to the world, as well as concepts about morality and morality are formed. Based on this, scientific studies devoted to the study of the formation of speech development and prosocial behavior in the early stages of ontogenesis are of particular significance and development prospects. The results of the planned study can contribute to the development of more effective methods for correcting child developmental disorders, including using biological feedback (BOS) by EEG. Factors of a favorable and adverse forecast of speech development will also be determined, which will ensure planning a complex of long-term psychological and pedagogical correctional measures— added the associate professor of the Department of Physiology of Human and Animals and Biophysics of the Institute of Biochemical Technologies, Ecology and Pharmacy of KFU Anna Mikhailova.

Researchers plan to use the results obtained during the implementation of the project when developing modified biological feedback methods for EEG in order to conduct correctional work with children with developmental disabilities. The developed modifications of the BOS methodology for EEG will be proposed for the inclusion of children in budgetary and commercial organizations in the rehabilitation program.

A comprehensive study of the psychophysiological development of children, including tests and registration of electroencephalogram, is performed on the basis of the Laboratory of Psychophysiology of the Center for Collective use “Experimental Physiology and Biophysics” by V. I. Vernadsky KFU.
