The Social Fund of Russia (SFR) reported that it had transferred an additional payment to all veterans of the Great Patriotic War. It is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade. The payment amount is 50 thousand rubles. It is provided one-time to people who have been awarded the medal “For the Defense of Leningrad” or the badge “Resident of Siege Leningrad.”
From January 1, 2024, changes and innovations in the social sphere came into force. The Social Fund will index pensions and automatically recalculate the amount of child benefits. From February 1, 2024, many social payments will be indexed. For example, benefits provided for families with children will be increased. In particular, a monthly allowance for caring for a child up to one and a half years old, a lump sum allowance for the birth of a child. Monthly payments to disabled people, veterans, citizens affected by radiation, and social benefits for funerals will increase. The leading lawyer of the European Legal Service, Irina Belova, spoke about this. Preliminarily, the indexation amount will be 7.5%.

From February 1, the SFR will index maternity capital by 7.5%. The amount of payments for the first child will increase by 44 thousand rubles and amount to 630,967.72 rubles, for the second child it will increase by 58 thousand rubles and reach 833,800.37 rubles.
The SFR said that if a family has received maternity capital and has already spent part of the money, then the increase will only be made for the remainder. For example, there are 135 thousand rubles left on the certificate. Then this amount will be indexed by 7.5%. You can find out the remaining maternity capital on the State Services portal.
It is worth recalling here that from January 1, 2024, the right to maternity capital arises only for parents who have Russian citizenship at the time of the birth of the child. The money is paid for a child who is a Russian citizen by birth,” said lawyer Elena Kuznetsova.
By the way, in 2024 the retirement age for old age will increase. For women it is 58 years old, and for men it is 63 years old.
The SFR also explained that the minimum requirements for receiving an insurance pension are also changing. To receive an insurance pension you now need at least 15 years of service and 28.2 pension coefficient.
