Towards the anniversary of the International Children's Center «Artek»

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko held the second meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the International Children’s Center «Artek». It took place in the Suuk-Su Palace as part of the eighth international shift «Artek Gathers Friends».
The event was attended by the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov, Chairperson of the State Duma Committee on Education Olga Kazakova, State Duma Deputy Sangadzhi Tarbaev, First Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation Alexander Lomakin, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Andrey Malyshev, Head of the Republic of Adygea Murat Kumpilov, Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov, Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea, Director of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution «International Children’s Center «Artek» Konstantin Fedorenko.
The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that on June 16, 2025, the International Children’s Center, together with the entire country, will celebrate its 100th anniversary.
In 2022, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on celebrating the 100th anniversary of Artek. It is extremely important to ensure that the anniversary remains in history as a joyful and significant era. The decision to celebrate this event at the state level emphasizes its role in education and upbringing, confirming its significance for the country. At the last meeting of the organizing committee, a plan for the main events dedicated to the anniversary date was approved. A lot of work has been done over the year, but preparations for the celebration are only gaining momentum— noted Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and celebration of the 100th anniversary of the International Children’s Center «Artek» Dmitry Chernyshenko.
He also supported the initiative of the Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov to declare 2025 the Year of Children’s Recreation in the Education System. At the same time, he called for taking into account the development of youth recreation.
In turn, the head of the Ministry of Education said that some of the items planned for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the children’s center have already been completed. «Artek» was presented at the International Exhibition and Forum «Russia» and the World Youth Festival. Active preparations for the anniversary events are underway.
For many years, an important attribute of each Artek child has been their uniform, and its design was updated especially for the anniversary. The center’s new corporate style is based on the number 100, reflecting this significant date. It was also decided to hold a class next year called «Conversations about Important Things» dedicated to the 100th anniversary of «Artek». It will be held in all schools from 1st to 11th grade.– said Sergey Kravtsov.
The Minister stressed that, as part of the anniversary events, it is important to convey the unique experience of the center to the entire system of children’s recreation.
Sergey Kravtsov noted that the construction of the Solnechny camp is planned to be completed by the celebration of the Artek anniversary. In addition, preparations are underway to restore the monument to V.I. Lenin on the territory of the center, a contract has been signed for the development of the relevant design documentation.
«Artek» is the most famous children’s camp in the world, our national treasure. Its centenary is a significant anniversary, which is important not only for Crimea, but for the whole country. We will celebrate this event at the proper level. In our region, a plan has been developed, which involves holding a number of educational, educational, cultural events throughout the republic. I thank Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Nikolaevich Chernyshenko, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergei Sergeevich Kravtsov, the federal center for their great attention to «Artek», for creating new opportunities for learning, creativity and physical development of the younger generation. Thanks to the Artek Development Program adopted in 2015, large-scale construction and renovation of the material and technical base of the International Children’s Center began. By 2020, reconstruction, major repairs and construction of 19 sports grounds, 4 concert venues with a capacity of more than 5 thousand people, 9 canteens and more than 70 social infrastructure facilities were completed.
The second stage of the Program for 2021–2025 is currently being completed, within the framework of which large-scale construction and updating of the center’s material and technical base continues. The strategic goal of the Development Program is to turn Artek into a leading international center for children’s educational recreation by its 100th anniversary.
In November 2022, when Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the Decree on preparations for the celebration of the 100th anniversary, a large-scale joint work began. The federal plan includes a whole range of events and activities: the concept of the international film festival «Let There Always Be Sunshine» has been developed, photo exhibitions are planned in the Federation Council and the State Duma, and international cooperation is developing. Events dedicated to the anniversary of Artek will also be held abroad. In addition, the concept of the Children’s Center Development Program for 2026-2030 has been developedsaid Konstantin Fedorenko.
State Duma deputy Sangadzhi Tarbaev spoke about his personal experience of staying in Artek and noted the importance of creating conditions for the unification and communication of all who vacationed in the International Children’s Center.
Dmitry Chernyshenko instructed to work on the issue of creating a single digital database of all Artek children. The Deputy Prime Minister paid special attention to meeting the deadlines for the construction of facilities being created for the anniversary.
The Deputy Prime Minister assessed the progress of construction of new buildings at Artek, including the Center for Innovative Educational Technologies of the complex, residential buildings, as well as facilities in need of reconstruction and damaged by the elements.
At the end of the inspection, in the presence of Dmitry Chernyshenko, a roadmap was signed, recording the obligations of responsible persons to commission the facilities within the established timeframes.
Representatives of the Ministry of Construction of Russia, the Ministry of Education, the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution «International Children’s Center «Artek», the Unified Customer PPC and the general contractor, Transstroyinvest LLC, signed a schedule for the execution of works on capital construction and reconstruction projects of the International Children’s Center «Artek». One of the participants in the signing was the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov.
