“Transport reform” in Sevastopol: there are citizens’ complaints, they respond to complaints
CrimeaPRESS reports:
On January 1, a new route network was launched in Sevastopol. Residents can leave all questions about the operation of public transport in private messages at Department of Transport group on the social network VKontakte, requests are recorded and immediately sent to specialists for a quick response.
Last year, we spent a whole year developing a new route network, held hearings at various venues, received feedback and approved the route network with minimal changes. To be specific, the new route network provides for the abolition of only four routes: 17, 20, 34 and 44. It also provides for a change in the traffic pattern on six routes, — said the acting. Deputy Governor Pavel Ieno.
In addition, as part of the new route network, it was decided to introduce a single city tariff. Passengers of trolleybuses, buses, boats and ferries pay 24 rubles with an EGKS card, 30 rubles in cash or by bank card.
A monitoring group is currently working at the Department of Transport; all received requests from citizens are being processed. We will not only systematize them, but also make a decision on each one. Perhaps in some places we will increase the intervals of public transport, in others we will change the traffic pattern. Next week we plan that the working group of the Department of Transport, in addition to receiving information, will directly go to the site and check the work on each route and work out problematic issues. As for requests, I also read them, we review and discuss them with colleagues, — emphasized the acting. Deputy Governor
Pavel Ieno also noted that all the canceled routes still have alternative ones, because one of the goals of the new route network is to eliminate “duplication.”
The main reason why it was necessary to make changes to the route network is the development of the city; now it is impossible to simply increase long routes, since they duplicate those that already exist in the city. In addition, these routes load the road network. In any case, the route network in our city must be built on the principle of broad connections. We will not move away from transfer hubs; we need to build transfer hubs and provide transfers. We also need to ensure carrying capacity indicators, — explained the acting. Deputy Governor
Pavel Ieno also noted that the number of people using public transport in the city increases by 20% every year. Just increasing the number of buses will not help ensure capacity.
