Tropics? Crimea is hot and rainy

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Last-minute news: according to the Crimean Department of Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, showers, thunderstorms, hail, and squalls of 17-22 m/s are expected in the central, southern, and eastern regions of Crimea in the afternoon of July 19 and during the day of July 20. The Ministry of Emergency Situations has issued a storm warning.

In these conditions, there is a high probability of emergency situations related to accidents at energy facilities, housing and communal services, an increase in the number of road accidents, disruptions to transport communications, difficulties in the movement of motor vehicles on highways, long descents and ascents, dangerous turns and mountain passes. Flooding of territories is possible— the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea said in a statement.

The emergency department recommends observing safety measures:

— avoid going into mountainous and forested areas;

— do not go out onto embankments and coastal protection structures;

— pay attention to the condition of drainage systems, drainage channels, storm drains, and cleaning storm sewers of debris;

— limit your stay in the immediate vicinity of river beds, including dry ones.

— we recommend that the population living in close proximity to water bodies and in areas of dry riverbeds take measures to preserve their property.

— drivers of motor vehicles, if it is impossible to restrict exit, must be extremely careful on the road, not exceed the speed limit and strictly adhere to traffic rules.

In bad weather, pay special attention to the safety of children and the elderly, be considerate of those around you.
