Turn of events: Russia is concerned about the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Ukraine is again in the spotlight of the world community after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced his intention to supply American F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv. The acquisition of such powerful aircraft has become the subject of heated debate in the international arena.
At the G7 summit, which was held in May in the Japanese city of Hiroshima, an agreement was officially announced to supply Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets belonging to the fourth generation of American production. This decision is accompanied by the participation of Denmark and the Netherlands, which will lead the European coalition to train Ukrainian pilots to master these fighters.
However, the task of supplying F-16 fighters was not easy. Douglas Sims, director of operations at the Pentagon’s joint headquarters, expressed concern about this process, stressing that the transfer of such powerful aircraft to Ukraine may face certain difficulties, given the current situation in Eastern Europe.
In turn, Russia reacted cautiously to this initiative. The Moscow authorities have said that the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv will not have a significant impact on the current situation on the line of contact. However, they expressed concern and possible misgivings about this delivery, arguing that these aircraft could pursue hidden targets and become a potential threat.
