Two Crimean libraries will become model libraries in 2024 under the national project “Culture”

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Two libraries of the Republic of Crimea will become model libraries in 2024 under the national project “Culture”. This was announced by the Minister of Culture of Crimea Tatyana Manezhina. According to the minister, the winners of the competitive selection of the Russian Ministry of Culture for the creation of model municipal libraries from our republic included the Children’s City Library of the Alushta Centralized Library System and the Chistenskaya Rural Library Branch No. 16 of the Centralized Library System of the Simferopol Region.

Tatyana Manezhina noted that since 2019, thanks to the “Cultural Environment” project of the national project “Culture”, 10 new generation libraries have been operating in Crimea. Model libraries are located in Leninsky, Simferopol, Chernomorsky and Belogorsky districts, the urban districts of Kerch, Saki, Evpatoria.

In 2024, in accordance with the Budget Code of the Russian Federation, there will be a transition to the provision of interbudgetary transfers in the form of a single subsidy for the creation of model municipal libraries within the framework of the state program of the Russian Federation “Development of Culture”.

8 million rubles (instead of 5 million rubles) from the federal budget will be allocated for the modernization of libraries.

The modernization of library institutions is carried out according to a single model standard, which includes connecting high-speed Internet, updating collections and providing access to various electronic resources. Libraries are created with a unique design that reflects local identity and local flavor, and people with disabilities become more comfortable visiting reading rooms regularly.

Improving the quality of life and accessibility of cultural services, ensuring equal access to information and knowledge both in large cities and in small towns are the main objectives of the “Culture” national project.
