Two minors got lost near the Botkin trail
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The day before, at 21:00, the rescue service received a signal that in the area of the Botkin Trail (Yalta) two minors had lost their bearings and, due to the onset of darkness, could not return home on their own. The duty shift of the Yalta ASO, consisting of 5 people, went to the search area.
Upon arrival at the beginning of the Botkin trail, rescuers began searching on foot. As a result, 40 minutes later the minors were found on the Botkin trail in the area of the Yauzlar gorge. They did not need medical attention. Employees of the State Institution of the Republic of Crimea «CRIMEA-SPAS» took them to a safe place and handed them over to their parents— reported the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Crimea.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea reminds that when going to mountainous forest areas, remember:
- Before you go on a hike, make sure that you have thoroughly studied the route and are familiar with the trails along which your route will pass. Check the terrain conditions and weather forecast;
- First of all, take seriously the choice of comfortable clothes and shoes;
- to travel, you should choose the safest route, even if it is longer;
- before driving, you should carefully assess possible hazards, taking into account weather conditions and the likelihood of obstacles;
- You should not make transitions in poor visibility (fog) or in the dark;
- Among the things that you need to take with you, there must be: warm clothes, additional power sources for your mobile phone, a flashlight. It is also advisable to have a GPS navigator with you;
- do not go close to cliffs;
- do not climb or descend into unexplored rocky areas without appropriate preparation;
- When moving around, mark visible landmarks on the map that will help you find your way back. Try to stick to the path and don’t go off it. Then you will never get lost.
