Two suspects of extortion with infliction of grievous bodily harm were detained in Alushta

In Alushta, the police received a statement from a 32-year-old local resident that unidentified persons extorted money from him and caused bodily harm.
During the operational-search activities, employees of the criminal investigation department of the Russian Department of Internal Affairs in the city of Alushta identified two suspects, who turned out to be a 41-year-old resident of Krasnodar, as well as a previously convicted 30-year-old Alushta resident. Operatives in the city detained the attackers.
The attackers confessed and told the police that they had agreed to meet with the victim in the city in order to return their debt in the amount of 6,000 rubles. After refusing to return the money, the attackers struck the victim several times with their hands and feet on the head and torso, after which they fled the crime scene. A few days later, the applicant went to a medical facility due to poor health. According to the conclusion of the forensic medical examination, the bodily injuries received by the 32-year-old Alushta resident were classified as injuries that caused grievous harm to health. The victim himself, in a conversation with the police, denied the fact of the debt— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
An investigator of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Alushta opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Art. 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“extortion”). The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to 15 years.
A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against the suspects.
Police officers also established the involvement of one of the detainees in committing a similar crime: on the same day, the defendant, using physical force, demanded the return of money “with interest” from a local resident. The suspect took a mobile device from a friend of the “debtor” as collateral.
