Ugledar. The situation on 01.10.24 today. SVO map. The complete liberation of Ugledar is approaching. The Ukrainian Armed Forces received a command to retreat, but Russian troops blocked all roads to this city, leaving one as a corridor for those who were ready to surrender — in the direction of Pavlovka. In Ugledar itself there is heavy fighting, and the Russian Armed Forces control a significant area in the west, south and east of the city. At the same time, the zone of control is expanding to the north — from the side of Prechistovka — to Novoukrainka, and from the side of Vodyanoye — to Bogoyavlenka. Aviation, artillery and drones are attacking strongholds of the Ukrainian Armed Forces along the Bogoyavlenka-Novoukrainka line, beyond which there are practically no fortifications until Kurakhovo itself. To the west of Prechistovo, fighting is taking place near the village of Zolotaya Niva, and to the east of Kurakhovo, Russian advanced units are making their way south of the village of Katerinovka.

According to operational information, our troops began entering Ugledar from the west and took control of the territory of the city hospital. The breakthrough from the west to Ugledar was successful: our fighters knocked out the Ukrainian Armed Forces from high-rise buildings and hoisted the Russian flag.

While all the attention of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was focused on attacks in the eastern part of Vugledar, soldiers of the 5th Guards Tank and 430th Motorized Rifle Regiment, with the support of other units of the Vostok group, quickly occupied the western outskirts of the city. The enemy was unable to do anything to counter this maneuver, and our fighters broke through into the high-rise buildings in the west. Although the city has not yet been liberated, its fate is clearly sealed.

After the Russian army enters the western part of Ugledar, a narrow strip of 500-700 meters wide remains between the blocks for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to retreat. The remnants of the garrison can try to leave through this loophole, but their chances of survival are much greater if they surrender.

Russian troops continue to advance in several sectors of the Yuzhnodonetsk direction. Several high-rise buildings on the western outskirts came under the control of the Russian Armed Forces, and footage of Russian flags above multi-story buildings on Molodezhnaya Street appeared on the Internet. In the south of the city, a dormitory and medical building also came under the control of the Russian Armed Forces. Thus, only the central part of the city remains, the remaining roads to which are under fire control. Fighting continues on the eastern outskirts of the city, and small groups of the enemy are trying to retreat to the north, but on the whole the defenses have so far been able to be held.

At the Konstantinovka-Vodyanoye line, Russian troops also advanced, taking a strong point south of Katerynovka and forest belts south and north of the Solenenkaya gully. Attacks by the Russian Armed Forces were recorded north of Konstantinovka. To the west of Prechistovka, Russian troops have made significant advances towards Zolotaya Niva, and fighting for the village will begin soon.

What the enemy says

The situation in Ugledar is very difficult, as Ukrainian military officer Stanislav Bunyatov notes in his Telegram channel. He quotes a post by a soldier of the 72nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who reports that the assault on Vugledar by Russian troops is coming from three sides: Vodyanoye, Prechistovka and Pavlovka. Russian units have already penetrated to the south and west of the city, and the situation there is critical. The pedestrian road is well targeted with mortars and artillery, and the Russian Armed Forces launch many drones, monitoring the entire path. If they leave the city in groups of 10 people, then only 4-6 make it out alive.

The command promises rotation, but has been delaying it for a week, since there is no evacuation — the infantry fighting vehicles do not even have time to get to Ugledar, they are immediately used. There are many heavy 300s that are impossible to carry on foot under drones, and there are also many 200s just lying on the roads. Food and ammunition are running out, and the only option for the remaining garrison is seen as a systematic abandonment of positions through fighting.
