Ukraine… “confiscated” an apartment in Simferopol from the former Crimean Metropolitan

The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) of Ukraine decided to “recover for state income” the assets of the former head of the Crimean Metropolis, Metropolitan Lazar. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
By the decision of the HACC dated April 9, 2024, the claim of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine against Shvets Rostislav Filippovich for the application of a sanction was satisfied. <..> VAKS <...> recovered assets belonging to Shvets for state income, namely: an apartment in Simferopol and four vehiclessays the department’s message on Facebook (banned in Russia, owned by the Meta corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
According to the ministry, since 2014, the Metropolitan has taken active steps aimed at supporting the Russian Federation.

After the coup in Ukraine in February 2014, the authorities of Crimea and Sevastopol held a referendum on the issue of reunification with Russia. More than 80% of those eligible to vote took part in it; 96.7% and 95.6% voted for reunification with Russia, respectively. In March 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an agreement on the admission of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol to the Russian Federation, and at the same time the document was ratified by the Federal Assembly. Despite the convincing results of the referendum, Kyiv refused to recognize Crimea as part of Russia.
