Ukraine stated that it does not recognize elections in new regions of the Russian Federation and in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Kyiv does not recognize elections in four new regions of Russia and in Crimea. This was stated by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
They [выборы в новых субъектах РФ и в Крыму] will not have any legal consequences— quotes the message of the diplomatic department TASS.
Moreover, the ministry called on Kyiv’s international partners to condemn Russia’s actions and impose sanctions on the voting organizers.
Let us remind you that elections in Russian regions within the framework of a single voting day are held from September 8 to 10. For the first time, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, which became part of the Russian Federation as a result of the referendums held there at the end of September 2022, are taking part in them. In general, elections at various levels should be held in 85 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Direct elections of senior officials are held in 21 regions, and elections of deputies to legislative bodies are held in 20 subjects.
