Ukrainian saboteurs were detained in Sevastopol. Together they testify about what terrorist attacks were being prepared
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Three of those arrested before 2014 were directly related to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The FSB identified agents of the Ukrainian special services who were preparing terrorist attacks against the Russian Black Sea Fleet. As follows from the message from the FSB Central Intelligence Agency, in fact, an entire intelligence group created to carry out terrorist attacks against servicemen of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol has been uncovered.
The Federal Security Service uncovered an agent group of Ukrainian special services in the city of Sevastopol, created to commit sabotage and terrorist acts against military personnel of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, as well as military, transport and energy infrastructure facilities in the region. Security authorities detained five agents of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine, recruited by the special services of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye region— says the FSB Central Operations Center in a statement.
The FSB noted that explosive devices and weapons were delivered by agents from the territory of Ukraine by mail, bus transportation and placed in hiding places. Photos with the coordinates of the caches were sent to Ukrainian curators, who subsequently assigned tasks to the executors to carry out a specific sabotage or terrorist attack.
All participants in the impending sabotage and terrorist acts did not know each other. The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine were confident in the safety of their agents, but the Russian FSB completely controlled their activities, which made it possible to prevent the commission of terrorist attacksemphasized the DSP.
During the searches, three ready-to-use IEDs, plastic explosives made in Great Britain with a total weight of about 5 kg, 600 grams of TNT, military-grade electric detonators, and radio-controlled actuators for activating explosive devices were found on the members of the group. 3 caches of destructive weapons were discovered.
Mentor, Myth and others.
One of the Ukrainian agents detained in Sevastopol was supposed to commit sabotage at a military airfield in the village of Kacha, another was supposed to plant explosives under an officer’s car,” the FSB clarified.
A local resident, born in 1988, who received the pseudonym “Mentor,” was recruited by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in April 2022, without leaving Russia, through correspondence in the WhatsApp messenger. He passed on to foreign intelligence officers all the information they were interested in from Sevastopol. Also, during telephone conversations, the man proactively proposed various objects for carrying out a terrorist attack, and also received step-by-step instructions for collecting IEDs and organizing an explosion.
Later, a curator from the Main Intelligence Directorate assigned the Sevastopol citizen the task of committing sabotage at a military airfield in the village of Kacha, using explosives seized from the cache— said the FSB.
The intelligence service added that the former contract soldier of the Ukrainian army, born in 1984, on instructions from the SBU, was supposed to eliminate high-ranking officers of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
He established the places of residence of military personnel, their cars and travel routes. Then I received a parcel containing two homemade explosive devices with foreign-made hexogen-based explosives with a total weight of 2.5 kg. He was supposed to plant explosives under the car of the officer, first on the list for elimination, and remotely detonatenoted the FSB.
In addition, among those detained is a former civilian employee of the Ukrainian Navy, who received the pseudonym “Myth.” He was also recruited in July 2022 through a WhatsApp conversation. For his cooperation, Ukrainian curators promised him treatment in Europe, but he never received the promised medical care. The man transmitted secret information to Kyiv about the location of military units and warships, for which he repeatedly received money.
In January last year, acting on instructions from the Ukrainian special services, a man received a parcel via bus transportation, which, under the guise of household electrical appliances, contained a foreign-made hexogen-based high plastic explosive, a military-grade electric detonator and an electric igniter. He was supposed to place the weapons in a cache and transfer its coordinates to a foreign intelligence service, and another GUR agent would extract it and use it to carry out a terrorist attack.
Up to lifelong…
The FSB said that a former Ukrainian soldier and pilot was also among those detained. He was recruited by SBU officers in Ukraine in 2018. His tasks included the selection of persons from among former military personnel who were ready to cooperate with the Ukrainian side, video recording of the movements of military equipment of the Russian Armed Forces.
To organize two-way intelligence communications, an employee of the Ukrainian intelligence service gave him a satellite terminal, flash drives and a laptop, with which he prepared reports to the foreign intelligence service. In addition, the man had to ensure the safety of a cache on the territory of Sevastopol, in which TNT was stored for organizing sabotage and terrorist acts— reported the FSB.
A similar task was assigned to a resident of Sevastopol born in 1996, who in September 2022 established contact with Ukrainian military intelligence. He received a package of explosives from a person who had been used in secret, and decided to equip a cache for storing TNT in one of the city cemeteries. In addition, at the direction of Ukrainian curators, the man transmitted information about the movements of military equipment on the Crimean Peninsula and established the location of individuals and vehicles.
The investigative department of the FSB of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol has opened criminal cases under Articles 205 (terrorist act), 275 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation against persons involved in the preparation of sabotage and terrorist attacks on instructions from the Ukrainian special services on the territory of the city of Sevastopol. Previously they were convicted under Art. 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal storage of explosives and explosive devices). The sanctions of the articles charged to the accused provide for punishments up to life imprisonment.
