Valentina Matvienko visited Sevastopol on a working visit. Visited “New Chersonesus”

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko visited Sevastopol on a working visit. Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev and Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimea Tikhon (Shevkunov) showed the speaker of the Federation Council the museum and temple complex “New Chersonesos”.

Construction of the New Chersonese facilities began in 2022 and was completed in the shortest possible time — in just over a year and a half. On an area of 24 hectares, a unique garden and park ensemble was erected, the main centers of which are three museums: the Museum of Christianity, the Museum of Antiquity and Byzantium, and the Museum of Crimea and New Russia. Valentina Matvienko highly appreciated the new tourist site of the Hero City, built thanks to the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the participation of the governor and government of the region. The ideological inspirer of the creation of the unique complex was Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea.

The creation of “New Chersonesus” is a feat accomplished thanks to the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and, of course, with your direct participation. Without the governor, without the Government of Sevastopol, such a colossal project would have been impossible to implement. “New Chersonesos” appeared in the right place, at the right time. This unique museum and temple complex is a reminder of our origins, of our history. I am sure that all Sevastopol residents and guests of the city appreciated it— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Valentina Matvienko.

The Chairman of the Federation Council also visited the Sevastopol Children’s Art School. It was from this facility that the construction of “New Chersonesos” began.

The art school became the first object of our “New Chersonesos”. We opened it in 2023, now there are 1,114 children studying here — that’s 816 children who are engaged in arts and crafts, design, architecture, choreographic and theatrical arts, as well as 298 students from the Sevastopol Children’s Art School. Theater arts have become one of the most popular areas of study: during the admissions campaign, more than 400 applications were received for entrance tests, which were conducted by experienced experts — leading teachers of the theater studio at the Oleg Tabakov Theater and invited independent experts — artists of Sevastopol theatersnotes Mikhail Razvozhaev.

Valentina Matvienko noted that the art school has created all the conditions for the creative development of children.

The Sevastopol Children’s Art School makes an incredible impression. There are no analogues to it — not only in Russia, but also in the world. It is made functionally, beautifully, aesthetically, and all conditions are created here for the creative development of children. And the fact that the construction of “New Chersonesus” began precisely with the art school says a lot. Thank you to your team for what you do in very difficult conditions.,” emphasized the Chairman of the Federation Council.

For reference: The museum and temple complex “New Chersonesos” was built on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The ideological inspirer of the project was Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov) of Simferopol and Crimea, and its implementation became possible with the support of the My History Foundation for extra-budgetary sources.
