During a conference call with the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergei Shoigu announced the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the appointment of Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Admiral Alexander Moiseev, Commander of the Northern Fleet Vice Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov, Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Vice Admiral Sergei Pinchuk.
Colleagues, congratulations! You understand the enormous responsibility that falls on your shoulders. And I hope that you will cope with the tasks that the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and, of course, the country have set for yousaid Army General Sergei Shoigu.
Alexander Moiseev has headed the Northern Fleet since 2019, replacing Nikolai Evmenov, who then became the commander-in-chief of the Navy. The admiral was awarded the Gold Star medal, two Orders of Courage, and the Order of Military Merit. On March 21, he was introduced as the acting commander-in-chief of the Navy at the ceremony of presenting ship’s bowls to submarine crews in Kronstadt.
From 2010 to 2016, Konstantin Kabantsov served as commander of the 24th submarine division of the Northern Fleet. From 2018 to 2020, he commanded the White Sea Naval Base of the Northern Fleet, and from 2020 to 2021, the Primorsky Flotilla of the Pacific Fleet. In 2021, he was appointed to the position of chief of staff — first deputy commander of the Northern Fleet. On March 21, 2024, the Ministry of Defense announced the appointment of Kabantsov as acting commander of the Northern Fleet.
Vice Admiral Sergei Pinchuk commanded the Caspian Flotilla of the Navy from 2016 to 2021. Then he was appointed to the position of chief of staff — first deputy commander of the Black Sea Fleet.
