Viticulture and wine-making enterprises of Crimea have started harvesting grapes. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Andrey Savchuk. This year, the crop is planned to be harvested from an area of 16.8 thousand hectares.
Let me remind you that last year our farmers harvested 130,000 tons of grapes. This was 6% higher than the 2021 harvest. The average yield for 2022 was more than 80 centners per hectare. This season we expect to harvest grapes no less than last year. The most common of the technical varieties that are cultivated by viticultural enterprises on the peninsula are: Rkatsiteli, Aligote, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and many others. Currently, work is underway in several districts of the republic. Including in the east of Crimea. One of our enterprises, VPS Plus LLC, is harvesting a variety for the production of white wines — Vermentino, a little later they will begin to harvest Pinot blanc and Pinot franc. The total area of vineyards here is more than 37 hectares, of which about 22 hectares were planted 4 years ago. The farm also cultivates about 8 other varieties. In 2020, for example, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot were laid, in 2021 — Syrah— commented the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Crimea.
Andrey Savchuk also noted that, along with other enterprises, VPS Plus LLC is a regular participant in state programs, under which it receives subsidies for laying vineyards, installing trellises and caring for young vines.
Let me emphasize that the industry for our agro-industrial complex is one of the key ones. Wine products in Crimea are produced by 30 enterprises. 26 of them have their own raw material base. State support in this area is quite serious. The subsidies that our growers receive allow us to plant about a thousand hectares of new vineyards every year, as well as to buy machinery and equipment for the necessary work. Last year, for example, they reimbursed the costs of acquiring vineyard machinery and equipment to 5 recipients, such state assistance made it possible for 32 farms to buy and plant more than 1.2 thousand hectares of vineyards with domestic seedlings, install a trellis and carry out the necessary agricultural workadded the minister.
Andrey Savchuk also focused on the fact that the industry is developing in an integrated manner. In order for winegrowers to be able to purchase domestic seedlings in the republic, mother liquors of rootstock vines of grapes have been laid on the basis of large and small enterprises.
So, since the spring of 2020, more than 44 hectares of queen cells have been planted, including the rootstock of the «elite» category. There are three grafting complexes: Invest Plus LLC, FGBUN VNNIIViV Magarach RAS and KFH Aria-N. Also in the spring of this year, on the basis of the Institute «Agrotechnological Academy» KFU. V. I. Vernadsky, a grafting complex was put into operation. Grafted planting material is produced by 5 enterprises. According to the Rosselkhoznadzor and the Rosselkhoztsentr, about one and a half million pieces of planting material were certified in the republic last year.— said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Crimea.
