Water lilies bloomed in the KFU Botanical Garden
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Water lilies bloom in the N.V. Bagrov Botanical Garden of the Crimean Federal University.
With the onset of the summer period, the flowering of beautiful flowers began — water lilies. They are deservedly called «queens of aquatic plants» for their beautiful delicate flowers floating on the surface of the water, surrounded by rounded heart-shaped shiny leaves. Water lilies, or nymphs, are aquatic plants in the temperate and tropical zones of the hemispheres. The life span of one flower is only a few days. It has an interesting feature of closing in the evening, plunging into the water, and in cloudy weather it may not appear on the surface of the water at all , — quotes the press service of the curator of the reservoirs of the KFU Botanical Garden Sergey Martynov.
The collection of water lilies of the KFU Botanical Garden has varieties. Of the red ones — Laydekeri Rosea, yellow — Inner Light, white — Gonnere. In addition to water lilies, a yellow egg-pod grows in reservoirs, very reminiscent of water lilies, but belonging to the genus of egg-pods (Nuphar). It grows at a depth of no more than one meter and is a kind of indicator of the purity of water, it does not tolerate its pollution well.
The main part of the collection of water lilies is presented in one of the reservoirs, however, other reservoirs of the exposition are decorated with flowers. You can look at the flowering in the Botanical Garden named after N.V. Bagrov of the Crimean Federal University during the summer period.
