Weekend in Crimea will be with showers, hail and squalls

The Ministry of Emergency Situations issued a storm warning about dangerous hydrometeorological phenomena in the Crimea on June 10-11.

According to the Crimean Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, due to the formation and passage of the southern cyclone on June 10-11, short rains are expected in Crimea, sometimes heavy, thunderstorms, hail, squalls up to 20-25 m/s. On the rivers of the northern foothills and the South Coast, water levels are expected to rise by 0.5-1.5 m without reaching dangerous levelsthe message says.

It is emphasized that under these conditions, there is a high probability of occurrence of emergencies associated with accidents at energy facilities, housing and communal services, an increase in the number of accidents, violations of transport communication, difficulties in the movement of vehicles on roads, long descents and ascents, dangerous turns and mountain passes. Flooding areas are possible.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea recommends observing the following security measures:

— exclude access to the mountain-forest area;

— refrain from going to the sea and inland waters;

— when on the street, pay attention to the integrity of overhead power lines, contact networks of electric vehicles and tree branches;

— do not go to the embankments and bank protection structures;

— pay attention to the condition of drainage systems, drainage channels, storm drains, cleaning storm sewers from debris;

— limit your stay in the immediate vicinity of the riverbeds, including those that have dried up;

— we recommend that the population living in the immediate vicinity of water bodies and in areas of dry riverbeds take measures to preserve their property;

— drivers of vehicles, if it is impossible to restrict exit, be extremely careful on the road, do not exceed the speed limit and strictly observe the rules of the road.

In case of bad weather, pay special attention to the safety of children and the elderly, be attentive to others.
