The intruder turned out to be a 39-year-old local resident who had previously been repeatedly convicted of theft, and who secretly stole a box of plumbing fixtures from an uninhabited apartment.
It was established that, while passing by one of the apartments, the man noticed the unlocked front door and decided to go inside. Having discovered that no one lived in the indicated premises, since it was actively being renovated, he decided to take advantage of the opportunity and steal something. His attention was attracted by a heavy cardboard box, but the attacker did not look at its contents, fearing that someone would catch him at the time of the crime. He quickly grabbed the box, left the apartment and headed outside to the nearest bushes, where he opened it and saw that the toilet was his prey. Without thinking twice, the man sold the stolen piece of plumbing to a random passer-by and spent the proceeds on his own needs.— the details of the incident were announced in the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol.
During operational search activities, the suspect was detained by officers of the criminal investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Leninsky district. The investigative department opened a criminal case against him under paragraph “b” of Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”, the sanction of the article provides for up to five years in prison.
