Where and for what purposes is crumb rubber made from old tires used?

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Crumb rubber is a valuable raw material that has become especially relevant today. It is obtained by processing various rubber products, among which car tires are considered the most common. From the resulting material, manufacturers form popular seamless coatings and special tiles. The basis for such a mixture is an elastic filler, thanks to which the likelihood of injury on the resulting surface is reduced to zero.

Rubber crumb is actively used to form durable coatings on various objects, which include:

  • industrial premises;
  • sports and children’s playgrounds;
  • sidewalks located next to roads;
  • territory located in close proximity to an artificial reservoir.

The low thermal conductivity of granulate allows it to be used as an alternative to popular thermal insulation materials for roofing. A crumb of this type allows you to form almost any pattern or design, and therefore it is used in such areas as landscape design. One of the most important properties of such a material remains increased wear resistance and tensile strength; it is enough to simply strictly follow the laying technology in order for the coating to serve for a long time — more than 10-15 years.

Advantages of crumb rubber from car tires

This material has recently become especially popular due to its exceptional characteristics. Such granulate, despite its increased elasticity, does not wrinkle even under the influence of impressive loads. In addition, it does not absorb moisture and is perfectly protected from decomposition when interacting with acids and alkalis. However, the advantages of such material do not end there; among them it is also worth noting:

  • Heat resistance, thanks to which the coating is not subject to deformation even in winter and in the hottest summer. The maximum operating temperature is 60°C.
  • Attractive appearance. In the production process of the mixture intended for the formation of seamless coatings, only dyes of synthetic origin are used, thanks to which any patterns and designs can be created on the surface.
  • The ability to prevent injuries, which is facilitated by the elastic structure of such material.
  • Water-repellent characteristics allowing the use of crumb rubber coating even in open areas.

Tire recycling for the purpose of subsequent processing into crumb rubber — this is certainly necessary and useful. This explains the demand for the services of specialized enterprises, where all manipulations are carried out according to the rules.
