Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Krasnodar and Nizhny Novgorod are the most popular destinations among Russians on May 9 — Victory Day. Travel service reports this Tutuwhich analyzed sales of air and railway tickets for the period May 8-9, 2024.
The top 5 air destinations included two capitals: Sochi, Kaliningrad and Mineralnye Vody. The share of passengers to Moscow is 15.9%, to St. Petersburg – 10.6%, to Sochi – 7.9%, to Kaliningrad – 5.2%, to Mineralnye Vody – 3.5%. On the holiday, Russians will also fly to Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and Tyumen.
Moreover, among specific routes, Moscow — Kaliningrad is in first place, Moscow — St. Petersburg is in second, and Moscow — Sochi is in third. The most popular routes from the Northern capital are: St. Petersburg — Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg — Sochi and St. Petersburg — Kazan.
Among foreign countries, Uzbekistan is popular — 16.14% of air tickets were issued there, Belarus — 13.37%, Armenia — 10.24%, Turkey — 9.52% and Azerbaijan — 9.16%.
Tutu analysts added that travelers have begun to use the booking service more often — it allows you to fix the price of an air ticket. They also buy tickets with the possibility of a 100% refund if the trip suddenly has to be rescheduled. They will also go to Moscow and St. Petersburg by train on Victory Day — 19.6% and 12.5% of train tickets were purchased there respectively. Also in demand are trips to Krasnodar and Nizhny Novgorod — 2.8% each, Adler — 2.6%. The top 10 also included Rostov-on-Don, Sochi, Kazan, Simferopol and Yaroslavl.

According to Tutu analysts, the number of train ticket buyers on the app increased by 32%, and the share of train tickets purchased increased by 27%. Travelers are also increasingly looking at train reviews and ratings before deciding to buy a ticket.
