Where we go? Ten travel trends for 2024
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Russian hotel and apartment booking service TVIL sums up the results of the outgoing year 2023 and highlights the main trends in tourism and recreation for the next year.
- 47% of travelers are willing to pay extra for a hotel stay with pets.
- The most pet-friendly city where tourists with pets come is St. Petersburg, Moscow is in second place, and Sochi is in third place. It should be noted that the number of bookings at pet-friendly hotels this year increased by 12% compared to last year.
- Tourists, especially those traveling by car, build routes specifically to places where they can experience the local culture through food. According to a survey on TVIL social networks, the most popular destinations for gastronomic tourism are Crimea (52%), Krasnodar Territory (33%) and Dagestan (14%). It is noteworthy that about 10% of tourists noted in the survey delicious food and wine in North Ossetia, Stavropol Territory, Volgograd Region and Kabardino-Balkaria.
- The hotel industry strives to provide unique experiences through new technologies. Hotels play music when guests enter their room. A menu of favorite family movies appears on the TV screen, and the mini-fridge is stocked with everything guests love. The Smart Home function takes care of the guests, asks “How is your stay going” and, if something is wrong, informs the hotel owner.
- The trend for wellness travel will grow in the new year. The country’s actively traveling population strives to focus on health improvement and reduce the impact of stress in everyday life. And in order to attract new and retain regular guests, hoteliers are increasingly positioning themselves as wellness-friendly hotels, including various spiritual practices in their stay, inviting nutritionist bloggers to the hotel, introducing vegetarian dishes into the menu, and developing eco-trails and fitness areas on site.
- For those who work remotely and separate work and home, it has become the norm to book a hotel rather than a coworking space or apartment for a long stay. Popular destinations for tourists to book hotels for remote work are Sochi, Anapa, Gelendzhik, Feodosia, St. Petersburg, Yeisk, Yalta, Evpatoria, Moscow, Alushta. The longest stay (23 nights) this year was in Moscow. In other directions — for 17 nights. According to TVIL, 66% of tourists book hotels for work, another 30% — apartments. And most of these tourists are among families and singles, in second place are women with children and couples. At the same time, hotels are booked 36% more often this year than apartments.
- Multi-bookings are becoming popular. This is when you book several rooms for a large company and pay in one application. According to TVIL, tourists in 2023 traveled in large groups (3 or more people) 8% more often than last year. Such travelers often book apartments and apartments — about 50%.
- Families are no longer afraid to take their little ones with them on trips. On average, this year you can relax with children for 4.3 thousand rubles per day in a hotel. Tourists with children and schoolchildren go on vacation to Sochi, Anapa, St. Petersburg, Gelendzhik, Moscow, Yeisk, Kazan, Yalta, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don. For families in hotels, it is important that the sea is close and has convenient access to the beach. Also, tourists with children look at the number of rooms, the availability of a children’s pool and food at the hotel (not every family can afford to dine in cafes and restaurants in the city; it is more profitable to book tours to hotels with meals included in the price).
- Collectors of Russian cities are looking for new inexpensive destinations. Budget destinations — Anapa, Yeisk, Feodosia, Kazan, Yalta, Volgograd, Voronezh, Krasnodar. The average bill for a budget tourist is 2050 rubles per night. In terms of savings, tourists travel alone or together for 1-2 days. For one-day trips, hotels and mini-hotels are booked — 66%. Most often, tourists who come on a business visit or travel alone stay for one day — 40% of such bookings. It is noteworthy that such single tourists travel 2-3 times more often than others: they stay for 1-2 days in a dozen cities.
- More than 300 new destinations were opened by tourists this year. The top 10 included: Cheget in Kabardino-Balkaria, Dzerzhinsky in the Moscow region, Lodeynoye Pole in the Leningrad region, Pichuga in the Volgograd region, Nyagan in Khanty-Mansiysk, Mezmayskoye in the Krasnodar region, Khasavyurt in Dagestan, Borisoglebsk in the Voronezh region, Khanki in Karelia, Upper Fiagdon in North Ossetia. Tourists are booking glampings and cottages in new destinations — about 30% of bookings.
