Most of all, Russians plan to travel around the country in the summer – domestic Russian destinations account for 85.3% of air and 97.31% of railway tickets. Travel service Tutu analyzed sales of plane and train tickets for the period June 1 — August 31, 2024.

AVIA

The top 5 air destinations included Moscow, Sochi, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad and Mineralnye Vody. The share of passengers to the capital is 15.8%, to Sochi – 13.8%, to St. Petersburg – 8.3%, to Kaliningrad – 4.5%, to Mineralnye Vody – 2.8%. Russians also plan to travel to Yekaterinburg, Makhachkala, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and Tyumen in the summer.

Among specific routes, Moscow — Sochi is in first place, Moscow — Kaliningrad is in second, and Moscow — St. Petersburg is in third. Next come St. Petersburg — Sochi, Moscow — Mineralnye Vody and St. Petersburg — Kaliningrad.

Popular among foreign countries are: Uzbekistan — 18.73% of air tickets were issued there, Azerbaijan — 14.73%, Kyrgyzstan — 9.59%, Turkey — 9.13% and Armenia — 8.88%. Air tickets to Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Georgia and China are also in demand.

Tutu analysts added that travelers have begun to use the booking service more often — it allows you to fix the price of an air ticket. They also buy tickets with the possibility of a 100% refund if the trip suddenly has to be rescheduled.

Railway

In the summer, travelers will travel by train to two capitals, Anapa, Adler and Krasnodar. The share of passengers to Moscow is 20.8%, to the Northern capital – 9.3%, to Anapa – 4%, to Adler – 3.5%, to Krasnodar – 3.1%. The top 10 railway destinations also included Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol, Sochi, Novorossiysk and Yekaterinburg.

Among specific routes, Moscow — St. Petersburg comes first. Next in popularity are Moscow — Anapa, Moscow — Simferopol, Krasnodar — Adler and Moscow — Novorossiysk.

According to Tutu analysts, the number of train ticket buyers on the app increased by 32%, and the share of train tickets purchased increased by 27%. Travelers are also increasingly looking at train reviews and ratings before deciding to buy a ticket. The number of users who issue a train ticket in advance and pay for it later has also increased.

HOTELS

Most hotels for the summer are booked in Russia — 94.02%, abroad — only 5.98%. The average bill for one night within the country is 3,932 rubles, abroad — 6,643 rubles. Typically, travelers book a hotel for three to four days. Last summer, the average check for one night in a Russian hotel was 4,154 rubles, abroad – 7,475 rubles.

The top 5 cities where hotels are most often booked in the summer include St. Petersburg, Moscow, Sochi, Kazan and Kaliningrad. The average bill for one night in the Northern capital is 5281 rubles, in Moscow – 4415 rubles, in Sochi – 5192 rubles, in Kazan – 3665 rubles, in Kaliningrad – 3979 rubles. On average, travelers stay in hotels for 3-6 days.

In Anapa, Adler, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don and Vladivostok, Russians usually book a room for 4-6 days, and its cost per night ranges from 3,416 to 4,207 rubles.

Tutu analysts added that the number of travelers who use the Check-In Guarantee service at hotels has increased. They also began to watch video reviews of hotels and apartments more often, so as not to make a mistake with their choice.
