A 33-year-old man purchased a hard drive and an external box worth about 32 thousand rubles in one of the stores in the shopping center, after which he headed to the nearest ATM to carry out financial transactions.
For convenience, he placed the purchased goods on the ATM, and after completing the necessary transactions, he simply forgot his purchases and left. The next to approach the ATM was a 46-year-old city resident who had previously been convicted of theft and, noticing someone else’s property left unattended, took it for himself and then sold it to a thrift store. As a result of operational search activities, criminal investigation officers of the Russian Department of Internal Affairs for the Leninsky District identified the suspect and detained him. The illegal actions of the detainee are confirmed by recordings from CCTV cameras,” noted the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol.
The investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Leninsky district opened a criminal case against the defendant on the grounds of a crime provided for in paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”, he faces up to five years in prison.
