Why is swimming on any beach in Sevastopol now risky?

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds: the swimming season has officially ended in Sevastopol — according to City government decree, it started on June 15 and lasted until September 15. This does not mean that beaches can no longer be visited, but it should be remembered that before the opening of the new season, operators of equipped recreation areas have the right not only to suspend the provision of a number of services to visitors, but also to remove water safety measures. Lifeguard duty on beaches may be cancelled. Therefore, when going to sea now, it is important for citizens to understand that they are responsible for their own safety.

During the swimming season, 20 water incidents were registered in the Sevastopol region. Unfortunately, 16 people died. 10 accidents were prevented. Including four children, assistance was provided — they were promptly delivered from the water to land by rescue sailors— reported the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the city of Sevastopol.

Despite the fact that the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations keeps statistics of incidents on water bodies, ensuring safety directly on the beaches of the region is not carried out by the department. Hired rescue sailors are on duty there, with whom an agreement has been concluded with the operators of the territories. In the event of an accident at sea, the forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations can also be involved, but will be sent from their place of permanent deployment. Prompt response to an incident and first aid to victims on equipped beaches are the tasks of rescue sailors. These specialists will fully implement them next summer.
