Work to eliminate ragweed outbreaks continues in Simferopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Simferopol, the fight against the quarantine weed ragweed continues. This was reported by the head of the administration of the Crimean capital, Mikhail Afanasyev.
According to him, in 2024, the Department of Urban Economy concluded a municipal contract with a contractor to carry out work to eliminate outbreaks of common ragweed. Chemical and combined methods are used to combat the quarantine weed in the city.
The work was carried out along the embankment of the Salgir River, in the Beloye-5, Beloye-4 microdistricts, as well as in the Kamenka massif and other addresses in Simferopol.
We are working in this direction on an ongoing basis. In total, 291,114.25 square meters have been chemically treated to date. In addition, specialists regularly monitor the territories to identify new outbreaks of ragweed. All applications from residents of the Crimean capital are also taken into account when identifying areas infected with this quarantine plant.— emphasizes Mikhail Afanasyev.
He also added that 595,774.42 square meters were processed using a combined method.
All work is carried out in response to requests from the City Administration’s Department of Urban Economy.
Reference: Ambrosia is one of the most dangerous allergens. In addition, it is one of the most difficult weeds to control. It takes away a significant portion of nutrients and moisture from the soil, which leads to a decrease in the yield of agricultural crops.
