The solemn opening ceremony of the XXV International Festival of Ancient Art «Bosporan Agons», organized by the East Crimean Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea, took place in Kerch.
The guests of the festival were welcomed by the First Deputy Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Yefim Fix, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Crimea Mikhail Nazarov, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Crimea Tatyana Manezhina, Chairman of the interregional public organization «Russian Unity» Elena Aksyonova, Head of the municipality of the city district of Kerch Olga Solodilova, head of the administration of Kerch Svyatoslav Brusakov, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Sverdlovsk Region Sergey Radchenko.
For a quarter of a century, this unique festival has united true connoisseurs of art. Traditionally, theater and film actors came to Kerch: People’s Artist of Russia Yuri Vasilyev, People’s Artist of the RSFSR Irina Kupchenko, Honored Artist of the RSFSR Natalya Bondarchuk, theater and film actors Sergei Shnyrev, Evgeny Voskresensky, Igor Dnestryansky, who have already become good friends to the city and Kerch residents and call themselves Kerchans.
First Deputy Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Efim Fix noted that “in ancient times, Panticapaeum, the capital of the Bosporus kingdom, was the cultural center of the Northern Black Sea region. And today Kerch remains a cultural pearl of Crimea, thanks in part to this wonderful festival, without which it is already impossible to imagine our city.«.
It is here, on the ancient land of the Bosporus, that epochs, civilizations and cultures intertwine. The festival is the point of attraction that every year attracts spectators and guests from all over Russia and beyond. Spiritual unity is very important for everyone today. Such events unite and make us feel involved in the great ancient history of our eternal city. Creative success, festival! Let, under the auspices of Demeter, everything conceived by the Crimeans always turns out— said Yefim Fix.
The parliamentarian thanked the Director General of the East Crimean Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve Tatyana Umrikhin, her team and all those involved for organizing a wonderful holiday.
This festival is a significant and striking event in the cultural and socio-political life of our republic and all of Russia. The venue for this festival is traditionally the city of Kerch — the oldest city in Russia, personifying all the historical and cultural diversity that fills the Republic of Crimea. Thanks to the festival, all guests and residents of our republic have the opportunity to join the special atmosphere of the theater, get acquainted with the unique heritage of the ancient world and the famous works of ancient authors— said Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Crimea Mikhail Nazarov.
The main show of the opening was the theatrical program «Under the auspices of Demeter».
The festival program includes: the international scientific conference «Crimea and international cultural cooperation», the small Olympic Games, the interactive Greek village «Emporium», master classes of the jury members and leading actors, the philosophical competition «Agonims», the theater competition «From Antiquity to Modernity» with the participation of ten theaters of the Crimea and Sevastopol.
Also today, in the center of the Hero City of Kerch, the «Avenue of Stars» of the festival was solemnly opened. It is located on the square near the Kerch Drama Theatre. A.S. Pushkin, next to the bust of the People’s Artist of Russia Vasily Lanovoy.
The names of outstanding artists Donatas Banionis, Kirill Lavrov and Vladimir Korenev, participants and jury members of past festivals, who unfortunately passed away, were the first to be immortalized. In the future, the stars of other famous figures of culture and arts, who took an active part in the preparation and holding of the Bosporus Agons festival, will appear on the alley.
