Yalta can become a sister city of the Istanbul municipality of Beylikduzu. Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is furious
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Yalta is preparing for cooperation and twinning with one of the most beautiful and cozy municipal districts of Istanbul — Beylikduzu. She reported this in her Telegram channel Head of the Yalta Administration Yanina Pavlenko. According to her, the visit of the Crimean delegation to Turkey is associated with determining the areas and directions of activity, after which an agreement will be signed.
The municipality is located in the European part of Istanbul, the population is about 450 thousand people. The area is surrounded by greenery: trees are planted at equal distances from each other, which turns Beylikduzu into an open-air museum. A real decoration of the area is the Yasham Vadisi (Valley of Life) park, one of the three most beautiful and largest in Istanbul (area — 1.2 million square meters). It was opened on the initiative of the mayor of the region, Mehmet Murat Chalyk — he personally gave a tour here for the Yalta delegation.
We also met with the Chairman of the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Iskender Duric — there is a large commercial port and industrial zone in Beylikdüzü, there is interest in cooperation with Yaltasaid (and showed a photo) Yanina Pavlenko.
She thanked the hospitable cities of Turkey for the reception. Yalta, according to her, is always open to cooperation and strengthening ties.
This message caused a strong reaction from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
We received information about the visit of Yalta representatives to Turkey. We take this situation with extreme seriousness. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has already requested official explanations from the Turkish side about the status of the representatives’ visit,” said press secretary of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleg Nikolenko.
Of particular concern to Kyiv, he said, was the discussion of the possibility of establishing “sister city relations” between Yalta and the Beylikdüzü municipal district of Istanbul.
The Ukrainian ministry demanded from the Turkish authorities “refrain from actions that may call into question the status of Crimea, in particular through contacts with the local Russian administration«
