Yalta Cossacks took the oath

On October 13, on the eve of the Feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the students of the 5th Cossack cadet class of the Livadia Secondary School named after Hero of the Soviet Union P.A. took the oath. Rassadkina and pupils of the child development club “Ataman” of the Simeiz village club.
The solemn event took place in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ the Savior. The ataman of the Stanitsa Donskaya Cossack Society, Igor Khodko, and the marching ataman of the Simeiz Cossack Society, Igor Ershov, took the oath.
The swearing-in, according to tradition, began with a prayer service, which was served by the rector of the church, Archpriest John (Nikitenko), together with Priest Alexander Kovlagin and Hieromonk Job (Gerasimov). In a solemn atmosphere, under the arches of the temple, fifth-graders clearly and proudly pronounced the words of the oath. The guys made a promise to love and respect the Motherland, their elders, study with dignity, study the Cossack commandments and received their first shoulder straps from the hands of their mentor officers.
In turn, school director Elena Semenyuk wished great victories, fortitude and strength of character in mastering useful skills.
Deputy of the Yalta City Council Ekaterina Demina, on behalf of the Head of the municipality of the Yalta City District — Chairman of the Yalta City Council Konstantin Shimanovsky, heartily congratulated the children on this significant event, wished them success in their studies and expressed confidence that we would all be proud of their successes.
After taking the oath, Ataman Igor Khodko wished the children to cultivate the best human qualities and grow up to be worthy citizens of their country — responsible and caring. Traditionally, the event ended in the temple refectory.
