Yalta intends to actively develop Nordic walking
CrimeaPRESS reports:
We welcomed the famous figure skater, two-time Olympic medalist, two-time world champion and seven-time European champion Irina Slutskaya in Yalta. After finishing her sports career, she became seriously interested in Nordic walking and in 2020 successfully organized competitions on the Yalta embankment, and now she intends to continue what she started 4 years ago— following the meeting, the head of the Yalta administration, Yanina Pavlenko, reported.
Irina Slutskaya is the ambassador of the project «Nordic Walking — a New Way of Life», which is being implemented with the grant support of the Ministry of Sports of Russia in the subjects of the country within the framework of the federal project «Sport — the Nordic Nordic Walking». In September of this year, a sports festival on Nordic walking is planned on Ai-Petri and the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Crimea, together with the team of the administration and the city council, will provide the necessary assistance in organizing the sports event— in turn, emphasized the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Crimea Olga Torubarova.
Sergey Banov, the first deputy head of the Yalta administration, who oversees the development of sports and physical culture, added that in the future, the large festival on Ai-Petri is planned to be held twice a year.
Irina Eduardovna and her colleagues are preparing it shoulder to shoulder with the Yalta Nordic Walking Federation, the Crimean Ministry of Sports, the Reserve and, of course, with our full support. I am sure that Yalta can well become the center for the development of Nordic walking at the all-Russian level. For even greater promotion of Nordic walking and all mass street sports, together with Olga Aleksandrovna, we will appeal to the Head of the Republic of Crimea with a request to allow non-competitive placement of sports equipment rental points (Nordic walking poles, bicycles, etc.) in certain places, for example, on the Solnechnaya Trail.“Oh,” said Sergei Bannov.
He also added that in addition to the Nordic walking festival, the meeting discussed the issue of building a full-fledged gym with stands and setting up an all-weather training area for our climbers, who train under the guidance of the Honored Trainer of Russia, Master of Sports of International Class Margarita Sergeevna Panferova. In particular, if there is a technical possibility, a place for climbers will be set up in the large hall planned for construction on ul. 16-Aprelya 1944.
