Young extortionists were detained in Saki. They say that they decided to commit a crime “for the purpose of profit”

In Saki, the police registered a report of extortion from a 22-year-old resident of the area. The applicant said that he was walking around the city with friends in the evening when a car stopped in front of them. According to the young man, two acquaintances of his friend got out of the car and, during the conversation, began to threaten and extort property from him. The frightened applicant handed over his smartphone to the attackers and transferred money to the account of one of his “friends” using a mobile application. The total damage amounted to 65 thousand rubles.
The search measures taken allowed investigators to identify and detain the suspects. They turned out to be a 25-year-old local resident, who had previously been convicted of robbery, and his 20-year-old accomplice. The suspects said that they decided to commit a crime for the purpose of profit. The smartphone was seized and returned to the applicant— said the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
The investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia «Saki» opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Extortion by a group of persons by prior conspiracy”). The perpetrators face punishment from 3 to 7 years in prison. The suspects were detained in accordance with Art. 91 Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation.
