2 out of 10 employers in Crimea will refuse a candidate with excessive qualifications

Most often, applicants for the positions of accountant, engineer and sales manager face job refusals due to overqualification. In a service survey SuperJob Representatives of companies and economically active citizens from Crimea took part.
Both a lack of qualifications and an excess of them can hinder employment. 21% of employers never hire overqualified specialists. Every second company acts selectively: usually we are talking about employing candidates for whom the new position and competencies will be a small step back (49%). Every tenth employer does not refuse to hire specialists with excess qualifications,” noted the service’s press service.
“Too good for us,” 29% of economically active Crimeans had to face with this formulation of refusal to hire. Men talked about such situations more often than women. The older generation is more likely to be city dwellers under 34 years of age. But most of all overqualified specialists are among respondents with an income of 100 thousand rubles per month: “More than once they refused me, they said that I would be bored”; “The employer was frightened by the experience of working at the federal level”; “They said I would waste away with them.” Among representatives of common professional groups, applicants for the positions of accountants, engineers and sales managers are more likely to face refusals due to overqualification.
