A chemical-toxicological laboratory appeared in the city psychiatric hospital of Sevastopol
The Sevastopol City Psychiatric Hospital now offers a full cycle of examinations of biological samples for the presence of narcotic drugs, psychotropic and other toxic substances. For these purposes, a modern Russian-made Maestro AlfaMS gas chromatography-mass spectrometer and additional equipment worth more than 14 million rubles were purchased.
This device is a high-tech research method and is currently most often used for work in chemical and toxicological laboratories. All analyzes for differential diagnosis are made on it. It can be used to determine even low concentrations of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and other toxic substances in biological material.e, — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the deputy chief physician of the hospital Alexander Pugachev.
Studies are carried out quickly, despite the fact that the timing largely depends on sample preparation. On average, specialists receive results within a day from the moment the analysis arrives at the laboratory.
Additional equipment was purchased for the sample preparation room, which is very important in a chemical-toxicological study. The maximum accuracy of the results is achieved through the use of automatic analyzers and the introduction of modern information technologies for data processing— Alexander Pugachev notes.
Doctors note that a modern international database makes it possible to identify complex substances that are common on the black market, but are not yet included in the list of banned substances in the Russian Federation, for further decision-making on the provision of appropriate medical care.
The study of biological materials is carried out in those who enter inpatient drug treatment, as well as those who are already under the supervision of a psychiatrist-narcologist with drug addiction in order to confirm remission or to refute the results of medical examinations conducted earliersays the doctor.
In addition, persons undergoing a medical examination to obtain a permit to carry weapons, as well as those who restore the right to drive a motor vehicle or receive a permit to work with narcotic and / or psychotropic substances, are sent for examination.
Previously, such analyzes were carried out only in the laboratory on the basis of the Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination.
