A Crimean citizen “earned” nine years in a maximum security colony for attempted treason

The Supreme Court of Crimea sentenced a resident of the Republic to nine years in prison for attempted high treason. This was reported by the press service of the court. Crimean, born 1975 was found guilty of assisting a foreign state in activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation.
The defendant was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment to be served in a maximum security penal colony. The defendant was also given an additional punishment in the form of restriction of freedom for 1 year. The court qualified the actions of the defendant under Part 3 of Article 30 of Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federationthe message says.
The consideration of the criminal case took place in a closed court session, since the case materials contain information constituting a state secret. The verdict did not enter into legal force.
