A gang of apartment swindlers has been arrested in Crimea. “We took over” the apartment from a pensioner
CrimeaPRESS reports:
A group of people were detained in Crimea on suspicion of committing crimes involving real estate.
Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea, together with colleagues from the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Evpatoria and the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Feodosia, as a result of a complex of operational search activities in the city of Evpatoria, detained a criminal group of persons suspected of committing fraudulent actions in a particularly large scale amount that resulted in the deprivation of a citizen’s rights to residential premises.
It was established that in February of this year, the attackers, by presenting a fake passport, under the guise of the owner of an apartment located in the city of Feodosia, issued a power of attorney for the right to dispose of property in the name of a third party, after which, using the received notarized powers of attorney, they re-registered ownership of the property in the Goskomregister, thereby taking possession of an apartment worth more than 1 million rubles, belonging to a 74-year-old citizen of a neighboring state— said the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
The suspects carefully prepared to commit the crime, selecting the target of the criminal attack, as well as looking for accomplices from among those experiencing financial difficulties and leading an antisocial lifestyle.
With the force support of the Russian Guard units, search operations were carried out at the places of residence of the defendants, as a result of which mobile phones, SIM cards were confiscated, as well as documentation containing information about the involvement of suspects in committing similar crimes in the territory of the Republic of Crimea, real estate objects that also became the subject of criminal assault, and other members of the criminal group.
The investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Feodosia opened a criminal case against the suspects on the grounds of a crime under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Fraud”). Currently, the 52-year-old defendant has been given a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions, and the 58-year-old defendant is being held in custody. The involvement of the detainees in a number of similar crimes committed in the territory of the Republic of Crimea has been established.
