A resident of Alushta is accused of publicly insulting the religious feelings of believers

The Main Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol has opened a criminal case against a 53-year-old resident of Alushta, accused of public actions expressing clear disrespect for society and committed with the aim of insulting the religious feelings of believers (Part 1 of Article 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) .
The investigative department for the city of Alushta established that a local resident on his personal page on a popular social network, which was accessible to an unlimited circle of people, published photographs of Orthodox shrines and accompanying unacceptable signatures that offended the religious feelings of believers— reported the Investigative Committee.
Criminal activity was identified and suppressed during the activities by employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and the Center for Countering Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.
During searches carried out in the defendant’s home, technical devices from which prohibited content and other materials of interest to the investigation were posted were discovered and seized.
Currently, investigative actions aimed at collecting and consolidating the evidence base are ongoing, and appropriate examinations have been appointed.
