A suspect in the theft of construction materials and power tools was detained in the Saki region

The Saksky Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia received a report of theft from a facility under construction. The victim, a resident of the Chelyabinsk region who is building a house in Crimea, said that in the period from November last year to the present, power tools and building materials worth 75 thousand rubles were stolen.
During the operational search activities, the police investigated the involvement of those who had access to the construction site, as well as previously convicted local residents, in the theft. A 35-year-old previously convicted Yevpatorian, who worked as a hired worker on the construction of the victim’s house, came under suspicion. The man said that he handed over the stolen goods to thrift stores in Yevpatoria, and spent the proceeds on his own needs. The investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia «Saki» opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”. The man faces a penalty ranging from a large fine to five years in prison,” noted the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.
A preventive measure in the form of a recognizance not to leave the place was chosen against the suspect. Criminal investigation officers found part of the stolen property, seized it and returned it to the owner.
