Admiral Viktor Sokolov summed up the year for Sevastopol and the Black Sea Fleet

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Congratulations from the commander of the Black Sea Fleet.

Dear Black Sea residents, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the Armed Forces, residents of Sevastopol, Crimeans and Novorossiysk!

At any time, even very difficult ones, our country celebrated the onset of the New Year, celebrating which we strive to please our loved ones, warm them with attention and warmth, and also sum up the results of the past year.

The outgoing year has become an anniversary year for the Black Sea Fleet and the hero city of Sevastopol; we celebrated our common 240th anniversary.

The Black Sea Fleet, which carries out the tasks of a special military operation, was declared by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy to be the best in the Navy in terms of types of training, having won 15 prizes — as many as all other fleets and CFLs combined.

By decrees of the President of the Russian Federation, the frigate «Admiral Makarov» was awarded the title «Guards», the marine brigade was awarded the Order of Ushakov, and the frigate «Admiral Essen» was awarded the Order of Nakhimov. The fleet received new small rocket ship «Cyclone» and a corvette «Mercury» from industry, crews of eight more new ships and boats, aviation units and combat and special support units were formed.

We are proud of our more than two hundred years of history, and we continue it today during a special military operation in Ukraine. Black Sea sailors honorably perform combat missions, protecting from the Ukrainian fascist regime, its Western sponsors and patrons of our compatriots in the historical Russian territories in the new constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

Our marines, the crews of ships, submarines, and naval aviation pilots are showing courage and heroism at the forefront of the operation, destroying the enemy’s critical infrastructure with precision weapons strikes. Our ships and vessels protect the national interests of the state in the Mediterranean zone.

The services of the Black Sea residents to the Fatherland have been recognized with high awards. In the past year, more than 6,000 Black Sea residents were awarded state and departmental awards, three of them became Heroes of Russia.

Congratulating everyone on the holiday, I express my deep gratitude to those residents of Sevastopol, Crimea and Krasnodar who ensure the participation of the fleet in hostilities, maintain the combat effectiveness of ships and aircraft: employees of shipbuilding and repair enterprises, crews of the rescue, hydrographic and auxiliary fleet, employees of naval medical and material organizations — technical support, volunteers and simply concerned citizens who help the front and the population of the liberated territories.

Moral and historical righteousness is on our side. Victory will be ours! Black Sea residents celebrate the New Year at the forefront of a special military operation, in combat service and on combat duty. May good luck accompany us, may we have enough mental strength for a speedy victory! In the New Year, we expect only the best, positive changes in life for our family and friends. I wish you happiness and health in the new year, fulfillment of your most cherished desires, festive mood, joy, love, prosperity and peaceful skies above your head!

Happy New Year 2024!

Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Admiral Viktor Sokolov
