CrimeaPRESS reports:
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed law on the denunciation of the agreement with Ukraine on cooperation in the use of the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait. The document was signed in 2003. During the special operation in Ukraine, the agreement became irrelevant.
As noted in the accompanying materials, with the admission of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to Russia, the shores of the Sea of u200bu200bAzov and the Kerch Strait began to belong only to Russia. Due to the fact that Ukraine has lost the status of a coastal state in relation to these water areas, it became necessary to terminate the agreement, the documents say.
The agreement between Russia and Ukraine was signed in Kerch on December 24, 2003. It noted the importance of the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait for the economic development of the two countries, as well as the need to preserve the Azov-Kerch water area as an integral economic and natural complex. In February of this year, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine denounced all agreements on cooperation with Russia in the Sea of Azov.
