An extended meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Rectors of the Universities of the South of Russia took place in Sevastopol

The meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Rectors of the Universities of the South of Russia was held at the site of SevSU and was dedicated to the Decade of Science and Technology in the country. The participants discussed issues related to the implementation of the list of instructions prepared following the joint extended meeting of the Presidium of the State Council and the Presidential Council for Science and Education.

As the head of the State Council working group in the direction of «Education», I believe that the topic of interaction between flagship universities and regions is one of the most important today, because flagship universities are the base point of development and a source of growth for the regional economy, development social sphere, implementation of important innovative breakthrough projects. In particular, we cooperate very fruitfully with Vladimir Dmitrievich Nechaev and today we work within the framework of a world-class scientific and educational center, which was created on the basis of SevSU and Crimean Universities within the framework of the Priority-2030 program, in which the university has entered, and there are several local, but very important directions , — the governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev addressed the audience.

The participants of the meeting noted that the collective experience of the universities of the South of Russia would allow to outline new areas of cooperation between universities and regions.

We have gathered to discuss the problems related to the instructions of the President in terms of interaction between subjects and universities located on their territory. We want to discuss the strategic and tactical tasks that universities are currently solving in their regions as drivers for the development of these territories. And of course, we want to understand how much the request of the subjects addressed to them has already been formed in terms of training schoolchildren, training scientific and pedagogical personnel, solving problems that are associated with the development of society as a whole , — said the chairman of the Council of Rectors of Universities South of Russia Marina Borovskaya.

Approbation and selection of the best practices of interaction implemented in universities is taking place at the site of the Council of Rectors.

Our university sees its mission in being a university that develops the city. We have restructured the university development program, taking into account the program of socio-economic development of Sevastopol, opened many specialties and areas of training for those promising industries that are planned to be developed in Sevastopol. It is on the example of Sevastopol that one can see how well the practices of mutually beneficial cooperation between the city and the region are worked out , — stresses the rector of SevGU Vladimir Nechaev.

SevGU and the Government of Sevastopol fruitfully cooperate within the framework of the world-class scientific and educational center «MoreAgroBioTech» within the framework of the «Priority-2030» program, jointly solve a number of local problems.

Together we are developing several directions at once: a lyceum-pre-university, in which schoolchildren study within the walls of the university and prepare for admission in the chosen areas. The “Turnkey Schools” project is relevant, where we get a professionally trained team of teachers for new schools. There are applied tasks within the framework of the program of strategic academic leadership «Priority-2030» in areas chosen jointly with the city. This is archeology, everything connected with the study of the sea, marine instrumentation. Together with the university and industrial partners, all these areas have received a new impetus, — notes the governor.

Representatives of the universities of the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics were also present at the meeting as guests. Following the meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Rectors of the Universities of the South of Russia, a protocol was formed with decisions, the recommendations of which will be sent to the Russian Union of Rectors and to the commission of the State Council of the Russian Federation in the direction of «Education», which is headed by the Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev.
