CrimeaPRESS reports:

A 44-year-old local resident contacted the duty unit of police department No. 3 «Central». She said that she received calls in one of the popular instant messengers from an unknown person under the pretext of profitably buying building materials. However, when the woman agreed to purchase the facing tiles and transferred the funds to the card of an unknown person, the order did not arrive at the address, and the seller was unavailable. The total amount of damage amounted to more than 140 thousand rubles.

As a result of the prompt response of the criminal investigation department of police department No. 3 «Central», the identity of the attacker was established. It turned out to be a 35-year-old resident of the Sovietsky district with no previous convictions. The suspect pleaded guilty and said that he spent the money on his own needs. A criminal case has been initiated against the defendant on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Fraud), he faces up to five years in prison. At present, a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave has been chosen for the attacker.— reported the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry in the Crimea.

Shopping that can be done without leaving home is convenient and popular in the modern world. The goods can be paid for in several movements via a mobile phone. However, do not forget that these advantages are also used by scammers for the purpose of illegal earnings. In this regard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Simferopol recalls that it is better to refuse prepayment for remote purchases, and pay for the goods upon receipt.

If you have been the victim of fraud or other crime, report it immediately to the nearest police station or call 102.
