Brothers from Melitopol, hiding from investigators, were arrested for murder in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol charged two residents of Melitopol, Zaporozhye region with committing the murder of a resident of Sevastopol by a group of persons by prior conspiracy for mercenary motives and robbery on an especially large scale with infliction of grievous harm to the health of the victim (clause “g” , “h” part 2 of article 105, paragraph “b”, “c” part 4 of article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
On the afternoon of March 21, 2019, a 34-year-old resident of Sevastopol was found in his car near the road near the village of Nizinnoye, Saki district, with numerous gunshot wounds. Law enforcement agencies knew that on that day the man left the house with a large sum, but no money was found during an inspection of the car. The main version of the murder was related to the activities of the deceased, who made his living as an unofficial currency trader.
Investigators and forensic investigators seized traces and prints at the crime scene, studied the identity of the victim and his circle of friends. Based on the results of the activities and a significant number of examinations, the Investigative Committee and the police were able to identify the persons involved in the commission of this crime.
Since 2018, a 42-year-old resident of Melitopol has been constantly transporting Russian rubles across the state border between Ukraine and the Russian Federation to exchange them for foreign currency. In March 2019, he decided to steal money to be exchanged from a trader, for which he involved his 34-year-old brother and another fellow countryman. During the meeting, the accomplices fired at least six shots at the victim, taking 160 thousand US dollars— reported the Investigative Committee.
In February of this year, the suspects were detained on the territory of Melitopol and taken for investigative actions to Simferopol. One of the defendants, under the weight of irrefutable evidence presented, gave exhaustive confessions. At the request of the investigator, the accused was chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention.
The identity and location of the third participant in the fatal robbery has also been established. Measures are being taken to detain him.
