Center for Digital Historical Research opened at KFU
A center for digital historical research has opened at the Crimean Federal University, the main task of which will be to create educational resources to popularize historical knowledge. Among the ongoing projects of the center are the network educational portal «Historica», which generates popular science historical content on the main social platforms of Runet, as well as the educational portal «Discourse».
The educational portal with the working title «Discourse» is a platform for the best online video courses and teachers of our history department dedicated to the history of Crimea and not only. In addition, users will have access to the electronic library and catalog of publications of the Faculty of History. This resource is under active development. Now a landing page is being prepared for it, the first courses that will be placed on the platform are being coordinated , — the press service of the university quotes the deputy director of the Taurida Academy for Science Ashot Barseghyan.
In addition, the specialists of the center are working on the creation of a single window for research activities. This resource is designed to solve the problem of inconsistency between scientific activity and the educational process.
The goal of this project is to automate the process of searching for conferences, publications, grant programs and submitting applications as much as possible. It is important for us that all emerging problems can be solved within a single web page. The project involves not only collecting information about upcoming events for centralized access, but also assistance and support of applications from the applicant to the recipient, — Ashot Barseghyan notes.
According to him, the work of the center will make it possible to systematize existing practices and provide an opportunity to develop new ones, for example, integrating new disciplines devoted to digital research methods into the educational process.
