Crimean citizen convicted of road accident while intoxicated, resulting in injuries to pedestrians

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The Sovetsky District Prosecutor’s Office supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a 51-year-old local resident. The Crimean citizen was found guilty under paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a car, resulting through negligence in causing grievous harm to human health, committed by a person in a state of intoxication), Part 1 of Art. 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (driving a vehicle by a person in a state of intoxication, previously brought to administrative responsibility for a similar act).

The court found that at the end of April 2023, a man, while in a state of alcohol and drug intoxication, driving a VAZ-2106 car along a highway in the village of Markovo, drove off the roadway, where he hit two pedestrians. As a result of a traffic accident, one of the victims was seriously injured.

It was also established that in the summer of 2023 the accused repeatedly got behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated.— reported the prosecutor’s office.

The court, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced the man to 3 years and 2 months in prison with deprivation of the right to drive all types of vehicles for a period of 2 years and 9 months. He will serve his sentence in a penal colony.

A VAZ-2106 car belonging to the convicted person was confiscated to the state.
