In connection with the seasonal activity of ticks, Crimean doctors draw the attention of citizens that in case of a tick bite, it is necessary to contact the nearest trauma center as soon as possible to receive qualified medical care.
Further, the removed tick for the purpose of its examination for the presence of dangerous diseases must be delivered to the laboratory of the FBUZ «Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol» (Simferopol, Naberezhnaya St., 67) or to any other laboratory accredited for this type of research. This is necessary due to the fact that ticks are carriers of pathogens of dangerous infections that cause Lyme disease or tick-borne borreliosis, ixodid tick-borne borreliosis, tick-borne viral encephalitis and other serious diseases , the Crimean Ministry of Health noted. 67
To prevent the bite of arthropods when hiking in nature, it is necessary to follow simple rules that will make it difficult for ticks to access the body: use light, tight-fitting clothing with long sleeves and completely cover the legs; treat clothes with acaricidal preparations; periodically inspect your clothes and body.
