Increasing production capacity and introducing new technologies in the region made it possible to increase the volume of food products — canned meat, vegetable and fruit products, dairy products, vegetable oil and cereals. For example, one of the Crimean fruit and vegetable processing farms, thanks to a rich fruit harvest and a new processing line, produced almost 2 times more liters of juice in 8 months of this year than in the entire 2022. Large quantities of products go to Moscow, the Far East and other regions of Russia— note the press service of the Branch for the Republic of Crimea of the Southern Main Directorate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
This year’s sunflower yield was higher than last year’s and amounted to about 16 c/ha, and some farms harvested a record 30 c/ha. Part of the harvest is immediately sent for processing to Crimean oil factories. This fall, the first refining and bottling line in the region will start operating at one of them. The resulting oil will be sent to Crimean bakeries and confectionery shops, as well as to the retail chain of the republic and other regions of the country.
Production of dairy products in January-August increased by almost 24% compared to the same period last year. The largest regional producers increased the production of cottage cheese, butter, milk, fermented milk products and cheeses. The product range is also growing, including as part of import substitution: Parmesan, mozzarella, Maasdam and Gruyere are produced in Crimea. One of the large enterprises produces an exclusive product in Russia — ice cream candies.
According to Crimean producers, government subsidies support the development of the industry. This year, milk processing enterprises in Crimea have received support to stimulate production in the total amount of 55 million rubles. Now the region’s enterprises process more than 300 thousand tons of raw materials per year and meet the needs of the republic’s residents by 40%.
